Autism, also known as autistic disorder, is the most common and representative condition among pervasive developmental disorders. The onset of this condition occurs in infancy and early childhood. Its primary clinical manifestations include social interaction difficulties, communication impairments, restricted interests, and stereotyped repetitive behavior patterns. Most affected children also exhibit varying degrees of intellectual disability.
