In 2009, at the age of 2, Xiao Yu still couldn't walk. After being diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a local hospital, his parents took him to various major hospitals for examination, but the results were all the same. Fortunately, Xiao Yu's intelligence was not affected. While undergoing rehabilitation, he also started attending school.
Misfortune struck one after another. Due to a sudden illness, the mother was unable to continue caring for the family, leaving all the burdens on the father's shoulders alone. Not only did he have to take care of his bedridden wife, but also two children. However, this father never uttered a word of complaint.
Due to cerebral palsy, Xiaoyu experiences stiffness in his limbs, instability in walking, and limited extension of the upper limbs. His peculiar walking posture often attracts ridicule from classmates, and he even faces bullying. Gradually, Xiaoyu isolates himself at school, no longer willing to communicate with classmates. During breaks, he sits alone in silence. At one point, he even developed a reluctance to study. However, Xiaoyu never considered giving up on himself; every day, he diligently performs simple rehabilitation exercises at home.
This year, Xiaoyu connected with Professor Tian Zengmin through a free medical consultation organized by the Jining Disabled Persons' Federation. With their assistance, he successfully underwent surgery at no cost. During the postoperative observation period, there was a noticeable decrease in muscle tension in his lower limbs, increased strength in his waist, and his gait no longer exhibited a tiptoe pattern. Xiaoyu expressed excitement, stating that he now feels very comfortable walking, and his whole body feels relaxed. He expressed profound gratitude for the surgery!
As Xiaoyu left the gates of Noulai Medical Center, holding the hand of a staff member, he expressed his greatest dream: to return to school after rehabilitation, make friends, and study and play together. Watching Xiaoyu stride out with determination, step by step, I wanted to tell him that despite the challenges, there is hope in facing life's currents. Though the road may be long and arduous, believe that with love and warmth by your side, you will never feel lost again. My heartfelt wish is for Xiaoyu to recover soon, return to school, and grow up healthily alongside good friends.
